What’s in a name?
I chose this name to embody my new adventure because of the ‘homey feel.’ As a freelance entrepreneur, you are joining a team of people that need support in their communications and social media.
The hearth is a symbol of home. Made of stone, the hearth is strong, enduring, and inviting. Hearth invokes images of gathering together, relaxing, or joining with others for a cup of tea to share stories.
My brand is one that brings a feeling of warmth, comfort and strength to a business, a trustworthy person who brings a fresh new aspect to your team.
As a child, I would constantly be dreaming and writing up stories. This lead me to work on my skills through school, university, and eventually finalizing my education at Simon Fraser University in their Public Relations program.
What have others said?
“Chelsea did a great job setting up our social media presence from scratch, and has done a wonderful job maintaining it, increasing significantly our effectiveness in serving our congregants.”
– Pastor Andy Falleur, Calvary Fellowship of Ottawa
“Chelsea is professional and approachable; a team player and a self-starter. Over the three short weeks, Chelsea gained experience in writing news releases, fact sheets, Op Eds, social media content and overall strategies. She liaised with media and interviewed cancer survivors and fighters, writing stories about their journeys. She did more in three weeks – as a result of her proficiency in communications and strong work ethic – than some can do in months. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Chelsea for future communications roles.”
– Sheila Dong, Canadian Cancer Society
“Chelsea did an outstanding job as an intern at the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa.
She spent two semesters assisting us with a broad range of events, communications and outreach programs to Canadian youth audiences. She managed logistics for some of the programs, and was a vital part of the planning and carrying out of others. For example, she was instrumental in the success of our StartUp Weekend, providing logistical and program support for 50 young participants from across Canada: including invitations, travel and lodging, and the event itself. Chelsea would be an excellent team member for any organization, and I am pleased to recommend her.”
-Judith Bryan, US Embassy Ottawa
“Chelsea did a good job in managing our Byward Market store. She connected well with the staff and managed the day to day operations of the store. She displayed a great attitude and always had a smile.”
– Mark Peterkins, Menchie’s Byward Market
